Some yards reach a point where the upkeep just isn't worth it anymore. A pond and water feature can look great for a few years, but eventually the liner, the pump, the algae, the constant cleaning - it all adds up. That's exactly where this homeowner was, and they wanted out.

We started by removing the pond and water feature entirely, pulled out the liner, and got the ground properly regraded so everything would sit and drain the way it should. From there, we extended the retaining wall to give the back area clean, defined structure. No more rough, uneven edges - just a solid line that ties the whole space together.

Once the grading was done, we laid river rock throughout the front yard. The coverage is wide and clean, and the stone itself gives the property a natural, settled-in look that actually works with the mature trees on the lot. In the flower beds, we refreshed the chocolate rock - same idea, different texture. Both materials are low maintenance by design. No mowing, no weeding through a soggy lawn, no seasonal replanting.

What makes a project like this work is the order of operations. Regrading first, then the wall, then the rock. If you skip steps or rush it, the rock shifts and the drainage goes sideways. We took the time to do it right so the result holds up long-term.

The before and after difference here is significant. What was once a high-effort yard with a failing water feature is now clean, structured, and sharp-looking from every angle. Decorative rock done right doesn't just reduce maintenance - it genuinely improves how a property looks and feels.
