Old Retaining Walls Out, Fresh Grade and Grass Seed In

This commercial property had two existing retaining walls that had run their course. Instead of patching around them, the decision was made to pull them out completely and rework the slope - which is honestly the right call. Old walls that are failing or just not working for the layout anymore create more headaches than they solve.

Once the walls came out, we regraded the slope to work with the natural flow of the yard. That's the part most people don't think about - the grade matters just as much as anything else. Get it wrong and you're dealing with drainage problems, erosion, and an uneven mess that's hard to maintain. Get it right and everything else falls into place.

After the grading was done, we brought in screened topsoil, spread grass seed, and covered it all with straw. The straw is there for a reason - it holds moisture in and keeps the seed from washing away before it has a chance to germinate. It's a simple step that makes a big difference in how well the grass establishes.

The end result is a cleaner, more functional property. No more walls to worry about, no awkward grade changes, and a fresh lawn coming in right along the drive. For a commercial property, that kind of clean presentation matters - both for day-to-day maintenance and for the first impression it gives anyone pulling in off the road.
